Assessment and Developmental Screening Procedures

Every parent enrolling a child will receive a questionnaire about their child regarding their development, medical history, languages spoken and special needs, preferences or concerns. All children’s development will be documented using a daily log, developmental screening tool, and a quarterly assessment tool. The assessment tool in our program is Teaching Strategies Gold and our screening tool is Ages and Stages Questionnaire. Parents will be required to meet with me to discuss their child’s development on a quarterly basis. Daily Care Logs will be provided to Parents via email or online app. Additional updates and notifications regarding your child and the program’s activities will be provided regularly. A monthly newsletter will be provided during the first week of every month, outlining the upcoming month’s events and curriculum.

Parents Responsibilities

Supplies and Personal Belongings

Parents are required to bring the following daily-use items with their child at the time of drop-off:
A weekly supply of diapers
A toothbrush (to keep in the daycare)
A wash cloth (to keep in the daycare)
A change of clothing appropriate to the season
A fitted crib sheet, and child sized flat blanket

Note: If any of these supplies are not provided, the daycare will
provide them but you will be billed for the costs.

Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

Operational hours are from 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Children are not to be dropped off before 8:00am!
These hours are to be observed. I will try to accommodate parents with unusual situations, however parents who attempt to misuse or abuse these privileges will lose them.

Pick up time is between 5:30pm and 6:00pm. After 6:00pm, there will be a charge of $5 per minute.

Your child will only be released to you or to persons whose names appear on your pick-up permission form. Under no circumstances will your child be released to anyone else, unless you request this in writing on the day at issue. We cannot make any exceptions to this rule whatsoever.

If there is a court order keeping a parent or any other person away from the child, the custodial parent/guardian must inform us of this fact in writing.

If there are any changes (either additions or deletions to the list of persons authorized to pick up your child, you must complete a new consent form.

Parents and other authorized persons are required to sign in and out every day when the child is dropped off or picked up.

Holidays, Vacations and Absence Policies

The following are paid holidays when they fall on a day regularly scheduled for care:
New Year’s Eve
New Years Day
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
President’s Day
Memorial Day

Independence Day
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving Day and the Day after (Black Friday)
Christmas Day

You must pay for the paid holidays listed in this policy regardless of any other term within the policy and or contract.

Parents will be notified well in advance when we close for staff professional development days.

Our program may partially open on holidays. Parents needing care for holidays must sign up for these days. Holidays will not be open for less than three children.

Potty Training

The Baby Play Place offers potty training support. It is your responsibility to begin training your child while at home. Clothing should be easy to manage to encourage self-help skills. Buckles, belts, overalls, and suspenders when in a hurry to use the bathroom may create a problem. I also require that your child has thick training pants (not regular underwear) during this process. When a child wears regular underwear and has an accident it goes right onto the carpet/floor. This is very unsanitary and unhealthy.

I will be happy to work with your child when he or she is ready and willing.

Note: Any soiled clothing will be placed in a sealed bag and returned to parents at pickup time

Termination & Suspension Policy

Children may be suspended or terminated from the program for reasons listed below:
SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION OF THE CHILD CARE SERVICES MAY OCCUR IF:

• A child has developmental or serious behavioral concerns that cannot be adequately met by our staffing plan. Example:
children who continually place themselves, other children, or staff at risk of physical harm and all avenues of rehabilitation have been exhausted. Including lack of cooperation on you as the parents part. (Information and referral sources are
available to parents upon request or upon evaluation completed by provider.)
• Parents who consistently arrive late (after 6 p.m.) to pick up their child. Information and referral about alternate care options available upon request.
• Non-payment of tuition.
• Violence against anyone in my home or on my staff.
(Verbal expression of concerns, written evaluation of concerns, and
Parent conferences will precede suspension.)

Nondiscrimination Policy

We welcome all children and families regardless of race, ethnic or national origin, gender, sexual orientation or ability level.
Now I ask of you, please do not drop your child off early or pick them up late. Just like you, I also have a family, and after working 10 hour days, I continue my other chores and want to spend time with my children. I realize there may be a time when something happens that you can’t control and you cannot be here on time so please call me as soon as possible.

Thank you and I look forward to working with you in the care of your child!
